6 of the best parks & green spaces in Surrey Heath.

We speak lots to Surrey Heath locals and buyers looking to move to Camberley and surrounding areas. And, without doubt, a common appeal of the area for them all is the green spaces in the borough. As residents ourselves of 12+ years, we feel blessed with beautiful outdoor spaces we have access to. But which are the best spots?

Whether you want to amuse the kids and use up some energy, exercise the dog or just enjoy the wildlife and scenery, there is plenty of choice all over Surrey Heath.

We’ve consulted with friends, neighbours, our 7 year-old... and our Dalmatian(!) to help compile this ‘six of the best’ list of family favourites.

Lightwater Country Park

Lovely café, good little outdoor playground, mini golf and some beautiful, accessible walks around the ponds, spotting wildlife

Barossa Common

Adjacent to Sandhurst Military Academy in Camberley and stretching right the way across to Swinley Forest and The Lookout, this huge expanse of ranges, trails and woodland is an unrivalled place for a sunny Sunday stroll. Particularly brilliant for long dog walks and mountain biking adventures!

Frimley Lodge Park

Located near Frimley Green and running alongside the Basingstoke Canal, this large park has something for everyone. It features 3G football courts for hire, lots of open space for burning off energy, a very large adventure playground and woodland trail plus walks along the canal towpath and the miniature railway (when open).

Windlesham Memorial Park

A lesser-known gem; this picturesque, tree-lined park in Windlesham has a great café, large playing field and decent playground suitable for younger and slightly older kids.

High Curley Point Woods

These woods are situated just off the Maultway in Camberley and can also be accessed via Lightwater Country Park. Great for shorter woodland dog walks or bike rides, the real draw is the breathtaking panoramic view at High Curley Point itself. A short walk from Maultway, you can take in the entire London skyline from Wembley Stadium in the west, across to Canary Wharf in the east, while also seeing Ascot Racecourse and beyond!

Southcote Park

Situated just off the Portsmouth Road near to Camberley Heath Golf Club, this park is a popular spot for local dog owners thanks to its smallish, enclosed field. It also offers a well-equipped playground with a basketball hoop and football goal to burn off kids’ energy.

These are just a handful of the array of beautiful parks, forests and green spaces that Surrey Heath has to offer. Hope you’ve found it useful. And if you’re looking for more information on the area, check out our ‘Complete guide to living and buying in Camberley’.
